With very little fanfare, Zootopia 2 officially became the highest grossing animated film of all time this week after crossing $1.7 billion at the global box office. Inside Out 2 ended its box office run at 1.69 billion. As of now Disney takes the top two spots in terms of animated films with two sequels. Neither film comes close to China’s Ne Zha 2 however, which stands at $2.25 billion. Both Ne Zha and Ne Zha 2 are currently available to stream on HBOMAX. Disney has not made an official announcement for Zootopia 2’s streaming premiere on Disney+ but it is expected around mid March to early April. This would give Zootopia 2 around a four month box office run.
