The Sorting Hat has spoken! Dominic McLaughlin has officially been revealed as the new Harry Potter for HBO’s upcoming series, and he won’t be tackling Hogwarts alone. Arabella Stanton will take on the brilliant Hermione Granger, while Alastair Stout steps into the shoes of everyone’s favorite loyal best friend, Ron Weasley. The young trio was chosen from a staggering 30,000 hopefuls who auditioned in last fall’s massive casting call.

But the magic doesn’t stop there—HBO has assembled an all-star supporting cast that’s sure to make fans cheer (and maybe gasp). Rory Wilmot will play the lovable Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson is stepping in as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey will don the flying goggles as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser takes on the wand-wielding Garrick Ollivander.

On the grown-up side of the wizarding world, we’re in for some serious acting firepower: John Lithgow (Conclave, The Crown) as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer (Tumbleweeds, The White Queen) as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You, Gangs of London) as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) as a delightfully gruff Rubeus Hagrid. Other big names include Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge.

Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod (Succession) promise a series that digs deeper into J.K. Rowling’s world than ever before, staying loyal to the books while fleshing out beloved characters and moments that didn’t make it into the original films.

Production is already underway, with Hogwarts slated to open its doors in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max. So dust off your wands, polish your broomsticks, and get ready—the Wizarding World is about to get a whole new chapter.
