Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, best known for role in the hit television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was found dead in her New York City apartment by her mother this morning. At this time her passing appears to be from natural causes. She recently had a liver transplant. Trachtenberg was 39 years old.

The actress first appeared in front of the camera in television commercials at age three. Trachtenberg appeared in a reoccuring role in the daytime soap opera All My Children followed by a role in the Nickelodeon series The Adventures of Pete & Pete. She won a Daytime Emmy for her role in the Discovery series Truth or Scare. She would land a breakout lead as Harriet M. Welsch in the 1996 Paramount film Harriet the Spy before eventually joining the cast of the cult classic series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
